CLS

'Canadian Lumber Standard' or CLS is used primarily in the construction of timber frame houses and also in internal and partition walls. Although as the name suggests it is of Canadian origin, CLS is now sourced from Europe also.

Although our CLS is graded to C16/C24 we also insist that it is wane free and straight. Both of which are important criteria for this product and its application. Ensuring wane free is a straight forward production issue. Ensuring the timber stays straight, whilst production has some influences ie. Kilning correctly, it is more important to know where the raw material comes from. Slow grown close grained fibre gives greater strength and stability along the length. For this reason we remain one of the few UK importers who still source CLS from British Columbia.
